Modular

Landwave Ramps

Editor’s Rating:

Landwave modular ramp system

See The Landwave Ramp

Size: 38.5″ x 56″ x 12″
Weight: 16 lbs
Scale: Up to 1:8
Construction: Polypropylene
Expandability:
Use alone or with other LandWave ramps and decks

  • What we like: Modular, Durable, expandable design
  • What we don’t: Can take up lots of space even when stacked for storage

With a focus on allowing for as much customizability as possible, the Landwave series of modular ramps are a fantastic way to set up jumps quickly with minimal effort. From take-off and landing ramps, high lift-off ramps, wide course extension ramps, and more, its durable polypropylene plastic can handle any RC model’s weight, even being suitable for 1:5 scale models when two ramps are used side by side.

Being stackable allows for not only secure storage when not in use, but changing and customizing layouts takes a matter of seconds, allowing for lots of experimentation to find those perfect launch angles. And with its weatherproof nature, you can even bury or disguise the ramps within mud and dirt tracks, ensuring consistent ramp angles no matter how much use they get. The handy rubber feet stop slipping on any surfaces, even during high wind, and the textured surface on the ramp itself helps keep solid grip when taking off.

With a range of purchasing options, from bundles to single boxes and ramps, it’s easy to expand and add to in the future, knowing all pieces will work seamlessly with each other. These kits are also great for other sporting hobbies such as skateboarding, rollerblading, BMXing, and more.

For a system that enables customizability as it’s the main selling point, there’s plenty of uses outside of jumps too, like allowing easy access to raised areas like decks, porches, and pit stations all without needing to pick up the vehicle. For a setup that will not only last but can be added to and expanded over time, Landwave ramps are a smart option for those with big ideas.

Purpose-built RC Ramps

RC Bash Ramps

Editor’s Rating:

RC bash ramps aluminum ramp

36″ x 24″ x 18″

Size: 36″ x 24″ x 18″”
Weight: 12.5 lbs
Scale: Up to 1:8
Construction: Aerospace-grade Aluminum construction
Expandability:

  • What we like: Excellent build quality
  • What we don’t: Premium price tag

With a premium aluminum construction, RC Bash Ramps have an offering for those who want not only a functional ramp, but one that’s easily portable, storable, and stylish. Its machined aluminum base looks excellent, adorned with RC Bash Ramps’ logo cut on the bottom of the side panel. And for a little extra, it can even be customized with a range of colors with a powder coat finish.

Assembly takes just a few minutes thanks to its simple screw system, making it great for not only storage but for transporting in the back of a car with its flat-folding design. All you need to get going is a 7/16 socket wrench. Setup is as easy as attaching a center aluminum bracket at the bottom, then screwing in the aluminum launch plate to the sides, and done!

At 36” x 24” x 18”, this ramp is large and tough enough to handle up to 1:8 scale, and its launch angle is specifically tuned to give optimal launch angles for RC’s to get some extreme height on your jumps! Its durable build means it’ll stand up to most weather conditions, although when placed against stronger winds, you may want to consider adding a weight underneath if you’re on a more unstable surface.

While the build quality and premium design are reflected in its premium price, RC Bash Ramps is a pretty fantastic package for those looking for a step up from prebuilt plastic ramps.

Budget Ramps

Ten Eighty Launch Ramp

Editor’s Rating:

Ten Eighty Launch Ramp

57″ x 12″ x 8.4“

Check Availability

Size: 57″ x 12″ x 8.4″
Weight: 9.7 lbs
Scale: Up to 1:10
Construction: Hi-impact polymer build, non-slip rubber feet, and a textured finish
Expandability:
N/A

  • What we like: Cheap but very durable
  • What we don’t: Narrow width makes it suited to 1:10 scale models and smaller

The Ten Eighty launch ramp is an affordable option for those on a budget. Coming in 2 pieces, with a connecting tabletop block in the middle, the Ten Eighty provides an excellent launch and landing ramp for smaller RCs. With its ramps being 12” wide, larger trucks may have issues clearing a single ramp. However, the two can be placed side by side for a wider launch if required. The ramps contain four holes for adding poles into the ground for support, although rubber strips are included for stability on concreted surfaces.

The ramps themselves, while lightweight and easy to carry, are made of a durable polymer plastic that is more than capable of handling RC trucks of any weight. While designed for younger skateboarders with a weight limit of 120 lbs, it makes a perfect fit for RC vehicles. It can be a great entry option for a simple set of ramps for the same price as it would cost to make your own out of wood, without the extra expense of tools and time.

Foldable

Jumpack

Editor’s Rating:

Jumpack ramp

36″ x 24″ x 18″

Size: 36″ x 24″ x 18″
Weight: 12.5 lbs
Scale: Up to 1:10
Construction:
Aerospace grade Aluminum
Expandability: N/A

  • What we like: Amazingly portable backpack design
  • What we don’t: Premium price tag

This ultimate portable option is the perfect ramp for those racers on the go. The Jumpack features a unique design that combines flexibility and storage with a ramp that’s still big enough to handle a 1:10 scale. Its primary design trick is its folding storage function, neatly packing up into an easily carried backpack form factor! At only 12.5 lbs, its comfortable straps make it a breeze to carry compared to the Bash Ramp, and setting up takes only a few minutes to unfold the ramp out into a sizeable launch platform! Simply rotating out the ramp sections and letting the support pistons release the ramp legs is all it takes to get up and running anywhere!

Designed over ten years by a team of skaters and BMX riders, the increased rigidity offered makes the Jumpack excellent for RC. Its shock-absorbing suspension bars help to keep the ramp stable, along with rubber feet to keep it steady on the ground. The adjustable ramp design means that from its shortest height of 3.5″ for smaller jumps, all the way to its full height at a whopping 17″ for the most extreme launches, it’s flexibility makes it suitable for any skill range. Although it’s worth noting that the ramp angle is more suited for fast forward jumps over longer distances, rather than the higher angled flips of the Bash Ramp.

With mounts available for GoPro cameras, you can even capture the action as it happens from the ramp! All of this contained within a comfortable pouch that makes the Jumpack the ultimate portable option!

Wooden Ramps

Graw Jump Ramps G20

Editor’s Rating:

Graw Jump Ramps G20 ramp

Check Availability

Size: 19.7 x 29.9 x 7.9″
Weight: 13.3 lb
Scale: Up to 1:16
Construction:
Birch and Poplar
Expandability: N/A

  • What we like: Great looks and sturdy build with bespoke customization options.
  • What we don’t: Expensive, shallow launch angle, not ideal to leave outdoors.

For a stylish and portable ramp that’s perfect for smaller-scale models, the Graw G20 consists of a wooden launch ramp with a metal base plate easily installed with just a few hex screws.

Not only is the Graw G20 made of 15 layers of durable birch and plywood, but the metal plate at the bottom ensures a smooth contact with the floor on any surface, with rubber feet on the back curve to prevent slipping. Its lightweight nature means it’s easy to take with you out to find the perfect jump spots, and with its single-piece body design, it looks fantastic when stood against cheaper plastic or DIY ramps.

While its height is a little on the short side, just shy of 8”, the angle is excellent for launching Mini-Z or 1:16 scale models. For a little extra, you can even opt for the G20 Pro model, which features a fully Beachwood body. Graw Ramps also feature the G35 if the G20 doesn’t have quite enough height for you, raising the height to 17.7”. And if you want even more customizability, you can visit their website, where you can enquire about custom sizes if you want a platform with more width or height. If you’re a fan of the stylish wooden look, Graw’s jump ramps are a great option!

Size

When buying a prebuilt ramp, it’s always important to consider the scale of the RC truck you plan to use it on. While most are suitable for a 1:10 scale and smaller, larger models may struggle if their wheelbase is larger than the ramp itself. It may also make lining up jumps a lot more difficult as there is a smaller safe area from which to launch.

Storage

It’s also important to consider how you will store the ramp. Some systems can be stacked, folded, or otherwise leave less of a footprint when in storage, while others may not offer such features and may not be suitable to be left outside in the elements.
